We sourced this top quality 1980’s Cooper’s Brothers Sofa at the local Thrift Store for a client for $100.00. These sofas (Cooper’s Brother’s and the like) cost around $10,000.00 new, and the frames are guaranteed for life. They are built to last with a wide hardwood frame, dowel joinery with heavy glued and screwed corner blocks, and the legs are built into the frame. Plus it has the very best spring system available; coil springs. See the accompanying slide show below for what the underneath of a quality constructed sofa looks like. The jute webbing is strong, adds structure, and the many spring coils are tied to it and then tied to each other and the frame. You can literally jump on this sofa until the cows come home and it will hold up. But don’t really do that.
A new look, with a luxurious soft comfortable shimmery chenille (the beauty of the fabric does not show in picture). The skirt was removed for a cleaner look and the tapered legs were repolished. We used two larger plump cushions instead of the 3, and filled them with a foam core and a feather wrap which is the best of both worlds in cushionland. The back was also restyled, and the arms made just a bit thicker for balance. It is new again, and even better. It is also custom designed to the customer’s taste, timeless in style, sustainable, and restoring is shopping local. This sofa can easily last another 150 years. You cannot get better quality than this, and it was half the investment of the same if purchased new. Thank you in advance for shopping local and sustainably. It’s a win win.
